Tower installation & commissioning — on behalf of New Zealand's networks

From steel in the ground
to live on the network.

Optelec erects towers, installs antennas, cabling and cabinets, and commissions base stations to a live state — including the radio links that carry their transmission — on behalf of One NZ, Spark, 2degrees, RCG, and the Public Safety Network, across the top of the South Island and beyond.

What we do

Erected, installed, and live.

One crew, one site visit, from bare ground to live traffic — on behalf of the network owner.

01

Tower & Structure Erection

Erecting lattice towers, monopoles, and guyed masts to the network owner's approved design — from 25m monopoles and guyed masts up to lattice towers like our 66m structure at Mt Campbell.

02

Antenna, Cable & Cabinet Install

Installing panel antennas, RRUs, and equipment cabinets across Nokia, Ericsson, and NEC platforms, with RF, fibre, and power cabling to spec.

03

Radio Link Installation

Installing and aligning point-to-point radio links between towers to carry backhaul transmission across the network.

04

Testing & Commissioning

Full RF and structural testing on every site before it's signed off and handed over.

05

Base Station Integration

Integrating the base station into the live network and confirming it's taking traffic under carrier acceptance.

How a site goes live

Four stages, one accountable crew.

The same sequence on every site, regardless of terrain or client.

01

Site Handover

We receive the approved design and consented drawings from the network owner, confirm access, and mobilise the crew.

02

Erect & Install

Erect the structure and install antennas, cabling, cabinets, and inter-site radio links to the approved design.

03

Test & Commission

Full RF and structural testing, signed off against carrier and structural standards.

04

Integrate to Live

Base station integration and traffic cut-over, confirmed live under carrier acceptance.

Where we work

One base yard, sites nationwide.

Crews are based in Motueka and travel to site — most South Island call-outs on the road within the hour.
